I told her I need the space
To rediscover myself
Find freedom from blackness
That has slowly encased me
Year by year
Speck by speck
Time now of no consequence
Only finding my lightness
She seems to understand
This is not new.
But now
The open-endedness of my journey
Hits home
Hits alone
Unknown.
This is what always frightened me
Except now,
There’s a glimmer of hope
For myself
For life

I rarely reveal my life outside my blog posts, but I’ve been where you are right now. I’ve been separated. I’ve been through a divorce I thought I’d never recover from. It’s survivable. I promise you it is.
